StarryNight

StarryNight is an interactive website made in 1999 by 3 artists: Alex Galloway, Mark Tribe, and Martin Wattenberg. Text is corresponding to every single star that is shown on the website, and there is also a constellation on the screen.

From an artist statement provided by Alex Galloway, he says “a dim star appears on a black web page. When a text is read again, the corresponding star gets a bit brighter. Over time, the Web page comes to resemble a starry night sky, with bright stars corresponding to the most popular texts and dim stars corresponding to less-popular ones”.

However, on the Web page we have accessible to us using the emulator provided by Net Art Anthology, everything is loaded in at once, therefore completely ruining the user experience intended from the original creators.
